PSA: Talking about "female" and "male" genitalia is inherently cis-sexist.

First, there are people who don’t have decidedly “male” or “female” genitalia.

Second: A certain set of genitalia is not necessarily accompanied by the “same” gender identity.
The distinction between “male” and “female” genitalia does not work for most trans* people, intersex and or genderqueer people.

So please, be aware of that and stick with more concrete terms like “people with uterus” e.g. when you are talking about reproductive rights.

I have seen people make fun of this term and I can assure you: this, too, is cis-sexist.

We realize that transitioning isn’t for everyone. However, too many people make “regret” claims that simply aren’t true. Take a look. Share on Facebook. Retweet. Learn more (and download the study).

THANK YOU.

‘Passing’ necessarily makes ‘failing’ the fault of the trans* person who doesn’t try hard enough to fit into a stereotyped role of the ‘opposite’ gender, rather than the fault of the systemically and unfalteringly transphobic society that only believes in binary genders, and dictates a very certain, very narrow way for trans* people to be accepted as one of those two genders. The struggle is enough for trans* men and women, but what of the few people who don’t want to be seen as either female or male?

The child I babysit sometimes is 5 years old. Last time I went to take care of him I noticed he has this awesome painting of the moon in his bedroom. He told me his mothers friend painted it. After he told me the artists name he then explained to me “She used to be a boy but she didn’t feel good so now she just takes medicine and it helps her to be a girl. She feels better”

It’s literally that easy to explain it to kids.

Ten Things I Wish I’d Known When I Started My Transition

great tips for transitioning peeps! largely MTF, but probably a few will be relevant for other people e.g. “don’t expect transitioning to solve all your problems”
